72 Basilicas in 68 Cities!
One more new basilica for the US: Sacred Hearts of Mary and Jesus in Southampton, NY. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the church was funded mostly by Protestants who wanted a Catholic church available for their Irish Catholic immigrant workers. The workers had been threatening to leave due to the lack of a nearby church, and this was the solution.
